The Bible

The Holy Bible was written by men, yet divinely inspired. It is God’s revelation of Himself to man. The Bible is true and reliable, free from error and the message of the Gospel contained therein is able to be understood by all who approach it in faith and humility.

God

There is one and only one living and true God, who is Triune in nature. The eternal God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

God the Father

God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace…God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus – God the Son

Christ is the eternal Son of God. Conceived of the Holy Spirit, he was born of a virgin, yet wholly God and wholly man. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross in our place as a sacrifice sufficient for the sins of all of mankind. He was buried in a tomb but was raised from the grave after three days. He ascended into Heaven where he now sits at the Father’s right hand.

God the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God…He exalts Christ. He convicts of sin, of righteousness and of judgment…He enlightens and empowers the believer and the Church in worship, evangelism, and service.

Man

Man was created by the special act of God, in His own image, and is the crowning work of His creation…Man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race…The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man; therefore every man possesses dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

Salvation

Salvation is a gift offered freely to all who accept it and put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer.

Baptism & the Lord’s Supper

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water…It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus.

The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby believers memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

Giving

At DSC we worship the Lord through fellowship, music, the preaching of the Word, and through obedience and service. Giving of a tithe is an act of obedience to the Lord, and service to His kingdom’s cause. We are grateful for the many who give sacrificially week by week and month by month, so that the work of Christ continues through DSC to the High Desert and around the world. We know you desire to serve the Lord in this way, so here is a convenient way of being apart of what God is doing.

As people of God, we recognize that everything we have belongs to Him (Psalm 50:10), and that we have been bought with a price (1 Cor. 6:20), and we are not our own (Rom. 14:8). Christ paid the full cost of sin and redemption so that we could be reconciled to Him (2 Cor. 5:18-21). Therefore, God has made us stewards of everything we have (1 Cor. 4:1), to responsibly invest in Christ kingdom purposes. Christ intends the Church to be the vehicle by which the Gospel goes forth, and the members of that church equipped for the mission of Christ (Matt. 28:19). As a token of the whole of what we have, we sacrificially give a tithe unto the Lord in worship and for the purpose of the spread of the Gospel. Christ said, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). When we give our tithes and offerings, we are declaring in part, that we are seeking the kingdom of God first, trusting that He will continue to provide for our needs (Psalm 37:25).
